Up and at em. For the cat scan

I have a cat scan today. I had one in 1987. I was fresh out of college. I did not have health insurance. My job did not offer it and at that time,  I did not know the importance. I had a headache for a couple of days and went to the Dr. He did the cat scan and I charged it on my visa. It was inconclusive and he thought it was migraines and gave me some medicine. Hours later when Mom called, I answered the phone and dropped it on the floor and was too sick to talk. She came and we went back to the hospital and I put the spinal tap on my visa. It was meningitis. Thank god, it was viral and not bacterial. My headache went away when they did the spinal tap because it released the pressure from the fluid on my brain. That was my lesson about insurance.
I didn't have to drink anything. Today, I had to get up at 5:40 and start drinking barium. I have to drink two containers of this stuff. They added some sort of coconut flavoring.
If you ever have to drink this nastiness, drink it ice cold. drink it through a straw and hold your nose. Ugh one down one to go. The cat scan won't be so bad. You just lay on the table and this doughnut scanner passes over your body. Drinking this liquid is what I have been dreading.
