I miss Elvis

It was inevitable that I would have to blog about Elvis. He was my angel baby and I loved him with all my heart. I called him my handy companion. Back in October I had to put Elvis to sleep. Ironically, he had a sudden aggressive cancer too. His was a blood cell cancer. My whole world was rocked. I met Elvis at Cumberland Mall in 1999. He was in a little cage and he was 2 months old and it was August. At Thanksgiving, I  went back to the pet store and there was Elvis still in the little cage. I wept. The next day, my husband said go get your frigging dog. I charged him. He was $899. Way tooo much. Elvis was afraid to have his tummy rubbed. He had never exercised. He was the hardest dog to house train because he had always been in a cage so he would soil his crate. He also was the most loving and grateful dog I ever owned. He was a total little gentleman. He never fought with other dogs. He didn't bark too much. He was very calm and mainly just stayed on the sofa or at my side. Every night, he would run in the bedroom at 8 pm and stand by the bed with his left paw raised, and I would say do you want to go night night? He would curl in a little ball and never move until the morning.
So now that I am sick, I miss Elvis more than ever. He would be right by my side and in spirit I know he is right here.
So here is to my little buddy. Even if you can't be here, you are helping me get through this.

  1. Of course I teared up at this story. Oh, how we love our doggies. I was thinking about Elvis too and how he would indeed be right by your side and yes, he still is. I hope he and Cupid are sharing a bone and chasing butterflies together.

  2. I think I met Elvis?! I remember thinking I thought she had two little dogs. My huge old Lola dog and my ancient kitty Henry stayed by my side when I was sick with my hips. Pets know when to be close...I love their love!!
