Thursday

Omg... This was longest fucking week of my life. It started with getting dehydrated. I did not know I was dehydrated. Then the perisintesis(fluid draining). then the blood transfusions. Then the chemo. Then the iv fluids, the pain pills, and vomiting and finally the vertigo. Which I still have by the way. I am dizzy when I stand or turn my head the wrong way. BUT I do not feel ill. I am eating.... This is good. I am studying my atrophied body. I lost more weight and my arms are so thin. Not in an attractive way. My skin is starting to wrinkle from the lack of estrogen, crepey, strange. My hair stopped falling out so i am not totally bald. I look in the mirror and I do not recognize this person. The old me is gone. I mean I am in there it is just like I got a different body to inhabit. Even my hands are different. Thinner, veinier.looking like my moms now. Enough about that. I am thankful to get through cycle 5. I am happy for JoAnn. NED(no evidence of disease) is awesome.go do something nice for yourself today. You deserve it! Here is a big hug over the iPad! I hope everyone is enjoying this summer. I hope I can get outside today. Ok peace.

  1. You did it! You made it through chemo 5 you rock! I hope every day you can eat some more, drink some more and be able to enjoy your sweet Rid and you family and friends. We will enjoy some backyard time in the sun today and later give you our family review for Cars 2. With the kiddos home for summer and no camps this week I am enjoying sleeping in a little and seeing the smiles on their sweet faces.

  2. Thanks, Ellen.

I have that strange skin too. It reminds me of the way sand is blown on the beach. Very weird. A shame lotion doesn't help.

    Glad you are eating again.

How is one supposed to know she is dehydrated without a blood test (my cat just had to have one for this)? Do they tell you how much you need to drink daily? And then what to do if you vomit it all up?

    Good thoughts coming your way,

  3. Exactly, I thought I was drinking enough. I think when you get really dehydrated you throw up more believe it or not. That is what happened to me. I should have gone to the hospital.

  4. Ladies - if you figure it out, pass the info along, cause this has been a chronic issue w/ my dad. How do you know in advance of going to the ER.
Good thoughts to both of you. Ellie I'm so glad you're eating. That's awesome. You rock!
    Sending love

  7. Hi Ellen - I have been following your blog and send positive vibes your way every day. I know that people give you all sorts of advice, ad nauseum...but - I have had off and on vertigo. Did the ENT thing, and of all things - my dentist had it and recommended his chiropractor. I would have tried voo-doo. Turns out it was caused by subluxation of my vertabra at C2 - my atlas was "off". I had been doing a lot of computer stuff and holding my neck the wrong way - and, sleeping on my side with my shoulders all scrunched up because I sleep with two Jack Russell's - Miss Peabody and Sherman (the Shermanator). The chiro really helped as did massage therapy if you can tolerate that. Again, I can imagine the wack jobs giving you info...but - it's worth a thought. Hang in there and keep fighting - you are surrounded by love.
